Are You Up For the Challenge?

I'd like to propose a challenge to my fellow writers. We all have words that we've come across which roll off the tongue about as well as a mudslide rolls off a mountain. Ugly words. Words which, if it were up to us would be removed from the language.

So, here's the challenge. Peruse your dictionary, find such a word and see if you can work it into your novel or work in progress'. The challenge though is not to just use the word, but to use it in such a way as to make it sound so good that the reader would desire to use that word in their own writing (if they write).

I'm interested to know what words you all would like to try to use and maybe if you work it in, you'd be willing to share how it was woven into your masterpieces! :)

Happy Writing.

P.S. Thanks everyone for the warm wishes on getting better. I'm still a little under the weather, but I see little rays of light in the near future.

Nope, sorry, the word moist is revolting and should be avoided at all costs.

Haha. Moist lol. Not exactly a word I would have thought of for this category.

I can't think of any word I have peculiar aversion too. I'll be back if one comes to mind-right now I can only think of names I have an aversion to like John Mayer and Dave Mathews.

Hmmm... I don't know if I have any words that I truly abhor. I know I was pretty excited to work frenetic and lackadaisical into HATSHEPSUT. I love those words!

Glad to hear you're feeling better!

I got that as an excercise in creative writing once. The teacher gave us a handful of words which had to be used in a story, and as we were writing, she'd call out a new word every minute or two, and we'd have to work that into the narrative... funny thing is, the one that almost had me give up was bus stop.

I can't think of any words I truly hate, either. Except swear words! And I see no need to try to work them in, LOL.

At first, I thought you were talking about swear words but then I realized you meant revolting as in words that are not palatable to us personally. I don’t know if I have any particular words that I glare at but no you have me thinking.

For the record, I love curse words. Simple syllable words having so much power awes me. And only because they are so offensive to the masses that I refrain from using them…when there is someone within earshot.
