Riddle for the Weekend

In lieu of my "People don't like long posts" rant, I'm leaving you all with a short post. It's a riddle that I wrote for a gentleman I knew who had been on Jeopardy. He and I used to exchange puzzles and riddles and I wrote this one just for him. Take a stab at it. There's no prize at this point if you get it right, but I'm curious to see if anyone gets it. So without further ado, here it is:

This thing I'm thinking of in my mind,
This thing it still affects the blind.

If you think it's fast, you're probably right,
but it'll never be as fast as the speed of light.

When it moves, it moves like the sea,
and it does indeed come from that riddled tree.

This thing you can feel when it hits your face,
but this thing you can never embrace.

Good luck and have a great weekend and remember, your answer must make sense for EVERY line in the riddle.

Hello! Found your blog through Sara McClung's and I'm looking forward to reading more! Congrats on your upcoming wedding :) I really stink at riddles. All I could come up with was gravity - the "riddled tree" stumped me but I thought of Newton's apple... definitely a stretch, I know.

Hi! Thanks for dropping in Julie. I love hearing from new readers :)

As for your answer, you'll have to wait for Monday. I'll post the answer and we'll see who or how many got it right.

I'm guessing it's the wind, but I've been up for three days straight writing so I could be just crazy.

A heat wave. That's my guess. You definitely have me thinking.

Hmmm, so, it's invisible, fast, moves in waves, and doesn't have a solid form. The coming from the riddled tree is confusing me a bit.

I thought WIND at first. But I'm not sure. Wind doesn't really move in waves or come from the trees.

Out of all the things I thought it could be, though, this probably fits the most...

sound wave. If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound?

Pretty cool riddle.

My guess is wind. Now I'm going to look at the other comments. Fun post Void. This is why I don't like poetry though - I can never guess the hidden meaning or the symbolism.

I vehemently agree with girlw/1i. It is definitely sound.

Right?

Hmm, maybe it's...no, it's sound.

Maybe it's indecision.

I'm thinking either sound or wind... I'm not sure which.
