Yay For Technology

Over this weekend, my soon to be father in law decided to upgrade his phone. He got the latest and greatest model that can do just about everything except for cook breakfast. So, lucky for me, he decided to give me his former phone, which by all standards is pretty amazing. I got the Blackberry Curve. Here's a picture.

I imagine you all might be wondering why I'm telling you this. You're probably asking something like:

"Why would Voidwalker be blogging about a phone, did he get a marketting deal with Blackberry to promote them or something?"

Well.......... no, but I am telling all of you, my blogging-about-writing-friends, because this new phone has an application in it whch allows me to use it as an E-reader! I'm very excited, because I was sincerely interested in purchasing a Kindle or Nook. Now, I don't have to spend 100's of dollars on those devices. Granted, the Blackberry doesn't have the snazzy e-reader technology that makes the screen look like a real book, but, I'm not complaining.

I'm sure you are all holding your breath asking "Which books did you download!?" So, here they are, in random order.

These were free downloads by the way, so nothing new, but that doesn't mean they aren't descent reads.

1. Robin Hood
2. The Oddysey
3. The Illiad
4. Frankenstein
5. Oedipus Trilogy
6. The Witch of Prague
7. Treasure Island
8. Olympian Nights
9. Evolution of the Japanese Social and Psychic
10. The Mysterious Island

So, If you come by and don't see an update to your comment, chances are I'm reading Frankenstein on my new Blackberry lol. Forgive me, but I'm a sucker for new technology!

My Kindle 2 laughs at your iphone!

Seriously, let me know how the reading experience is.

DL: Very cool. I wonder how easy/hard it is on the iphone vs the blackberry. $20 says the iphone e-reader is easier lol.

Charles: Yes, apps on phones can't beat the e-readers themselves, but it saves me a few hundred bucks, so I'm a happy camper. So far it's not half bad reading on the blackberry screen. The backlighting is a bit finicky, but otherwise it's pretty descent.

I need paper. I hate texting. But I do love my iTouch Couldn't afford to jack up my cell phone bill extra $30 a month for an iPod. But getting my blog emails without have to warm up the laptop is sweet.

Diana: That's awesome. It's definitely a great phone, my only problem is not knowing how to use its full potential. I'll get there, but it takes time to learn it all. By the way, the E-reader app is called Mobipocket Reader.

GWOE: Paper!? What are you, a writer!? oh wait ;P
