$eX $ells

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few hundred years, then you're probably keen on the idea that sex sells. I'm not talking about a $20.00 harlot, with bright crimson lipstick and mini-skirt, on the downtown street corners. I'm talking about the idea of it. The taunting illusion that somehow, a product or service will be coupled with sex in some way, shape or form.

I'm bringing this up today, because I was reminded at how powerful this concept is. Even in the literary world. I posted a very quick blurb yesterday about a tattoo'd author and when I went to look for a picture to post for it, I just grabbed one of Megan Fox with her tattoo showing. Within minutes of posting that picture and my blurb, I had a bunch of comments...

I have a lot of different questions that this brings to mind, but I'll only ask one.

Who would you choose, based on sex appeal, to sit with you and help promote your book. Assuming that you could have any celebrity for a day in promotion.

Kate Beckinsale!

I'd posted her photo before and received a lot of comments as well.

Just wait until you see my Thursday post!

Oooh that's such a hard choice. Can I have a whole group of sexy beautiful people? Pretty please?

But okay, let's see. I think I'd probably want Channing Tatum with me for the day. For my own greedy purposes. ;)

Oh, man. Thanks to my post today, you might think my answer would be Jeff Goldblum, but it'd actually have to be Christian Bale. And only if he promoted my book while doing that loud, but gruff, whisper thing he does in BATMAN. Without a shirt. But definitely with that sexy lisp of his :D Thanks for the hot post!!

I'm honestly not sure-among some I wouldn't mind visiting with my wife may disagree and I have to admit that I don't know if they would help the integrity of the book itself.

But I think I'd like to visit with Heidi Klum most.

Hmm...on the basis of sex appeal alone, I'd probably go with Jensen Ackles. :-)

Alex: Good Choice! I know I'd stop at any author's table if Kate B was there promoting it lol.

Karen: Funny, I barely heard of that guy just like 2 days ago. Interesting he'd come up again so soon.

Zoe: Haha! Plot twist then... I would have guessed Goldblum.

David: Hey, a day promoting books next to Heidi Klum... No complaints here :) Good choice too!

Summer: Dunno who that is? Don't hate me :p

Why Megan Fox, of course. But only if she changed her tattoo. ;)

BTW, thanks for stopping by my place and for becoming a follower. I appreciate it.

Wow, that's a hard one. Gerald Butler I guess because I think his personality is sexy and he comes across as an honest bloke.

Just to clarify, I was attracted to the tattoo post because of the title, not the picture. A lot of people post pics with their blog articles, and I usually ignore them unless they are really unique in some way. I honestly didn't know what the heck you were referring to in this post until I went back and looked at the previous post.

Not saying I speak for everyone, but as for me, a good post title will always get my attention. I don't care one ounce of ogre snot what pic you use. And often times, images cause the page to the load too slowly. I only place an image with my blog post if I feel it will truly enhance it in some way, otherwise it's not worth the time or effort it requires to search for one.

I think that particular post got a lot of attention because of a) the title and b) you asked a good question. I read just about all your posts, but I only comment on the ones that spark something in me. That one made a spark, as did this one, and neither one had anything to do with the exposed flesh you chose to put in the header.

My $0.02, for what it's worth.
