A Forgotten Poem

I wrote this a while back when I was going through some pain over a lost relationship. I read it today and thought I'd share it. I know writing and poetry are two different worlds, but in my life they are both outlets for me. So, here ya go:

Shed the Pain

Graven images of ill-born memory,
blockade against my mind.

Forlorn thoughts of recent events,
break thru, trying to remind.

As people pass and days grow cold,
The feelings get in the way.

My heart it aches and hardens now,
My soul it darkens day by day.

Favored tales so full of hope,
They shed their false birthed life.

Forever reminding people like me,
reminding me of stress and strife.

One day I will walk away,
One day I'll be true.

And on that day, I'll not look back,
I'll shed my thoughts of you.

Very nice (in a sad poetic way). I'm so happy you visited my blog. I've been slacking this week but finally got a chance to come over and read some of your stuff. I'm hooked. :)

Tere: Thank you very much for the shout out/award. I'm honored and I also appreciate the compliment on the poem.

Jim: Nice seeing you again. I was starting to wonder if I had any male readers besides Charles and David :) I appreciate the compliment!

So sad, but beautiful too-- you really are quite the poet. I hope you have a very nice Christmas.

So sad. Not in an overdone way like my old high school poems were, just sad and aching. I'm jealous too.

"I'll shed my thoughts of you" I like that line. Having the foresight to see the lose as temporary in the midst of being sad is pretty strong of you.
